## Overview

This introductory course will provide you with practical knowledge of the methods and strategies that comprise modern project management theory.

### Learn The Phases of Project Management

1. Initiation: creating a proposal
2. Planning: setting timelines, creating a budget, and communicating with stakeholders
3. Execution: identifying and addressing issues concerning project scope, budget, challenges, and risks
4. Monitoring: maintaining project quality through ongoing tasks
5. Closing: completing the project and transferring deliverables

After an overview of the process, we’ll focus on the first two phases (Initiation and Planning) in greater depth. While learning about the Initiation phase, you will be both identifying and selecting projects. You will learn how to create a project charter and how to compose a project scope document.

Then, you’ll look into the Planning phase, where a large degree of project success is determined. In the first part of the Planning phase, you’ll learning about creating diagrams and charts while learning the value in interpreting them. In the second part, you will gain technical experience by using a strategy to determine concepts such as float and resource management.

### What It Takes to Be a Project Manager

We’ll conclude with a discussion on project managers and what it takes to become a successful one. Learn about the most relevant skills and traits, discuss the vital importance of delegation, and the best strategies for managing change.

This one-day workshop concludes with a brief overview of Project Management software/apps, Project Management associations, and Project Management certifications. You’ll receive a slide deck that contains both practical knowledge and a variety of exercises. This class is a great fit for those who want an overview or review of project management theories, methodologies, concepts, and approaches.
