In addition to 121 hours of interactive training, you will receive eight 1-on-1 mentoring sessions that can be used for career and job support, including polishing your resume, preparing for interviews, and reviewing best practices for applying to jobs. Note, however, that we don’t provide job placement (i.e. reaching out to companies on your behalf). ### Do I need to bring anything to the class? We provide computers (Mac or PC) equipped with the appropriate software. Choose your operating system at checkout. In the Visual Design Bootcamp (one of the classes in this certificate) you will be designing a website, so we encourage you to come with a concept (or real-life project) in mind. If you do not have one, the instructor will help you brainstorm ideas or will provide you with project ideas you can choose from. If you want to work on your own website design project, please collect as much content (text, images, logos, etc.) as you can ahead of time, and bring that to class so you’ll be ready to work! ### Is there mandatory work outside of the classroom? Students are required to complete class projects outside of class hours for the Graphic Design Bootcamp . If the Visual Design Bootcamp is taken during the day, no work outside of class is required. If it’s taken at night or on weekends, some work outside of class could be required. Students are not required to complete any work outside of class for the Sketch, Photoshop, and Illustrator classes. Additionally, students are encouraged to practice the skills learned in class and develop a portfolio of work. ### How many students are in a class? A typical class ranges from 8–12 students, but we accept up to 20 students. ### How does the custom schedule work and what is the recommended class order? We have scheduled the certificate classes in various tracks (day, night, or weekend) for your convenience, but you can customize your schedule. When creating a custom schedule, you’ll be able to choose between the various available dates for each class in the certificate program. If you can’t make a particular class, you can choose a different scheduled instance that works better for you. Please keep the following in mind when scheduling: If you do not have any prior experience with Adobe design apps, we recommend learning Photoshop before Illustrator . The Adobe Photoshop Bootcamp must be taken before Photoshop for Web Design & UI . You must take Photoshop and Illustrator before taking the Graphic Design Bootcamp (because you’ll be using those apps in the design bootcamp). You must take either Sketch or Photoshop for Web Design & UI (but ideally both) before the Visual Design Bootcamp (because you’ll be using one of those apps in the design bootcamp). ### Does it matter if I use a Mac or Windows PC? Designers typically prefer using a Mac, but you can take every course in this program on a Mac or a PC. The Figma Bootcamp uses Figma, which works the same in a web browser or the desktop app on Mac and PC. Photoshop and Illustrator work the same on both Mac and PC so for those classes you can use whichever you prefer (Mac or PC). ### Which design app does this program teach for UI design and prototyping? Figma, in the Figma Bootcamp. Figma runs in a web browser or as a desktop app on Mac and PC. Sketch and Adobe XD are no longer part of this program. ### Is this course open to beginners? Yes, this course is open to beginners. Students must be comfortable using a computer. No other prior knowledge is required. ### Do you offer payment plans or student financing for this course? No upcoming live online dates are currently available. Please contact us about future availability. ### What happens if I need to miss a session? You have some options: You can watch a recording of the session. We will provide any course materials. Contact us to confirm whether remote attendance is available for your session.
