MTA.NYC.NY.US: web site has direct information for all New York City trains, buses and subways. All schedules, maps and service advisories are available 24 hours a day. If time is of the essence, confirm the information by calling the MTA at 1-718-330-1234, or consult their subway maps. The fare for a subway or local bus ride is $2. The fare for an express bus ride is $5. If you qualify for reduced fare, you can travel for half fare. Up to three children 44 inches tall ride for free on subways and local buses when accompanied by a fare paying adult. Infants (under two years of age) ride express buses free if the child sits on the lap of the accompanying adult.
On Board Trains: Peak one-way, off-peak one-way, and off-peak round-trip tickets may be purchased on board trains at a cost of $4.75 to $5.50 more than tickets bought before boarding at ticket machines or ticket windows. This higher on-board fare does not apply to customers boarding at stations without a ticket office/ticket machine, senior citizens, people with disabilities or Medicare customers. Cash only; no bills over $50.
Train Web Tickets: Order online and save 5% on One-Way, Round Trip, Ten Trip and Weekly tickets; save 2% on Monthly tickets. NYC Transit MetroCard and UniTicket options are also available. Major credit cards are accepted. Tickets are delivered by mail in 3 – 5 business days and postage is free. |
